Gas tax resources might be threatened by the increase of Electric Vehicles in Florida.

A recent analysis compiled by Florida’s Revenue Estimating Conference showed that “the market share of electric vehicles in Florida is expected to increase significantly over the next 10 years”. Although it seems to be very far in the future, some experts analyzed it is important to take action because the tax gas collection is the principal source of funding for road maintenance in the state. The following years are critical to developing a taxation guideline over Electronic Vehicles that can replace the current gas tax policy. Even though the percentage of Electric Vehicles in Florida is still low in comparison to Fuel Vehicles, the state has the second-highest number of EVs in the country, behind California.
