IRS Offers Tax Filing Extensions for Floridians Impacted by Hurricane Helene

In response to Hurricane Helene, the IRS has extended tax filing and payment deadlines to May 1, 2025, for affected individuals and businesses in various disaster areas, including 41 counties in Florida. This relief applies to tax filings and payments originally due from September 23, 2024, through May 1, 2025, including 2024 tax returns, 2023 returns with extensions, and quarterly estimated payments. The relief also covers payroll and excise tax returns due in late 2024 and early 2025. Taxpayers will automatically receive this relief if their IRS address is located in the disaster area, but those outside the area with impacted records can contact the IRS for support. Additionally, individuals and businesses suffering uninsured disaster-related losses can claim them on their 2024 or 2023 returns.
