Tax Deadline Extensions for Hurricane Lee-Affected Areas: Massachusetts and Maine.
This week, a new tax relief initiative has been introduced by the Internal Revenue Service, aimed at assisting individuals and businesses in Massachusetts and Maine who have been impacted by Hurricane Lee. Under this relief action, various tax filing and payment deadlines will be postponed until February 15, 2024. It applies to: Individuals and corporations who had a valid extension to file their 2022 return due on Oct. 16, 2023; partnerships and S corporations whose 2022 extensions run out on Sept. 15, 2023; quarterly estimated tax payments and quarterly payroll returns due between Sept. 15, 2023, and Jan. 31, 2024. The relief is available to all individuals and businesses located in the federally declared disaster area, which includes all 14 counties in Massachusetts and all 16 counties in Maine.
