IRS reminds of October 16th Tax Extension Deadline.

The Internal Revenue Service has issued a reminder of the upcoming deadline of October 16th. Those taxpayers that requested an extension to file their 2022 tax return, must file their Form 1040 on or before Monday, October 16, 2023, to avoid potential late filing penalties. Certain taxpayers located in disaster areas covered by a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) may have additional time to file their returns; like those taxpayers affected by Hurricane Idalia in parts of Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia. Taxpayers affected by recent storms should also refer to the IRS website, where they can find constant updates on the list of areas protected by relief programs. The agency remarks on the availability of its Interactive Tax Assistant tool for those taxpayers with tax law questions, and also the possibility to view tax information in several languages directly on their website.
