Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Begins July 29

Starting on Monday, July 29th, qualifying back-to-school supplies in Florida will be exempt from tax thanks to the 2024 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday. Passed by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis, this sales tax holiday will extend through Sunday, August 11. Governor Ron DeSantis, highlighting the significance of the tax relief during a recent visit to Aventura, noted the rising costs facing families and praised the Legislature for renewing the holiday. During this period, tax-free items include school supplies priced at $50 or less, clothing and accessories at $100 or less, personal computers and related accessories at $1,500 or less, and learning aids and jigsaw puzzles at $30 or less. However, the exemption does not apply to rentals, repairs, or sales in theme parks and entertainment complexes.
