Florida Taxpayers Impacted by Hurricane Debby Receive IRS Filing Extensions

The IRS announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in southeast states affected by Hurricane Debby, including 61 designated counties in Florida. This relief will extend various federal tax filing and payment deadlines to February 3, 2025, and includes postponement of filing 2023 federal returns, estimated income tax payments, and payroll and excise tax returns. Penalties for payroll and excise tax deposits due between August 1 and August 16, 2024, will be abated if deposits are made by August 16, 2024. Affected taxpayers automatically receive this relief, and additional options are available for those with disaster-related losses or retirement plan withdrawals.
